I have seen mushrooms growing outside of a house as well as under a house.  But, this is the first time that I've ever seen mushrooms growing inside a house! Obviously, the builders of this house from hell -- excuse me, I mean new construction property -- has a minor problem.  As far as new construction goes, this was one of the worst houses that I've ever seen.  Overall, the summary report that went to the builder and the real estate agent was 14 pages of items that needed to be addressed by the builder.  To give a bench mark, most houses in this area are from 5 - 6 pages.  Just goes to show youthe quality of craftsmanship and the attention to detail that goes into some new construction properties out there.

My clients were VERY glad that they decided to go with the home inspection.  They told me later that they almost did not go with the home inspection.

That's awful!  I've seen vines and grass grow in through cracks, but that's scary!

That is a first.  Your pictures make me laugh every day.  This house is so bad I can't even laugh.  I am thinking of all the other people who bought a house from these people and have no idea.  I have sold several builder models where they buyer won't have an inspection done because it is a "Brand New House".  Do you get a chance to talk to the builder?  In Florida the inspector and builder can't communicate by law unless the buyer allows it.  If you ever move to FL I want you as my main inspector

I have found mushrooms growing in houses before, but they've been bank foreclosures, not new construction.  But, I've always heard that new construction is worse than buying a resale when it comes to the home inspection.

 Whew!  Moisture isn't usually an issue in Colorado, but I can imagine the surprise of finding mushrooms inside the home.  Wow!
