Extraordinary Oceanfront Homes in North San Diego County for Sale
I suspect many people dream of owning an oceanfront home. Fewer actually do, given today’s costs
For those in the know, certain streets immediately bring to mind oceanfront living with fabulous views, ocean breezes, and the sounds of crashing surf. [NOTE - photos are NOT of views from the homes noted below but are simply intended as representative]
In Carlsbad, it’s Ocean Street, Tierra Del Oro, a small part of Carlsbad Boulevard, and Shore Drive. Encinitas offers, among several streets, Neptune Avenue atop the bluff overlooking the beach and Ocean.
In Solana Beach it’s Pacific Avenue, and some of S. Sierra Avenue. And in Del Mar high end oceanfront home buyers will most likely know or hear about Ocean Front and Sandy Lane, with perhaps the most expensive beach front homes in North San Diego County found on these streets in the Del Mar Beach Colony.
If you have the budget ($5,000,000 or more) and would love to own an oceanfront home in North San Diego County, here are my top picks Know that if you are interested in touring any of these homes you will likely have to provide proof of your financial ability to purchase the home first.
In Carlsbad – an 8,000 SF oceanfront beauty with private beach access and spectacular sunset views, 5 luxurious bedrooms with en suite baths, a library/home office, gorgeous kitchen, guest quarters with kitchenette, and a beautiful oceanfront great room. Offered at $9,995,000 to $11,495,000
In Encinitas – on Neptune on the bluff (great whitewater and sunset views but no direct access via private stairs to the beach below – access nearby), a 4400 SF beauty with elevator, exercise room, sauna, 5 bedrooms,3.5 baths, and gorgeous finishes, creating your private beach resort. Yours for $7,100,000
Solana Beach has several opportunities fronting the ocean, but my pick is a 2200 SF ocean bluff home, built in 1966 but completely remodeled with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, plus 50 feet of frontage and a wonderful courtyard for entertaining and enjoying the outdoor SoCal life. This one is offered at $6,600,000.
Our last stop heading south is Del Mar, with the largest number of oceanfront offerings, and even heftier price tags for beach front living. It’s hard to choose given what an oceanfront buyer can select from but I have 2 favorites: one with 35 feet of beach frontage, 3000+ SF, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and 2 ½-baths, contemporary styling with many custom finishes, plus amazing views (of course) from inside and on the expansive patio. Upping the price a bit here, $14,500,000 - $18,500,000.
My second Del Mar fave is an amazing property on the beach with a price tag to match (but off the market for the summer) – with 81 feet of sand frontage, you can enjoy 8000+ SF of luxurious living and entertaining space on 2 levels, 5 bedrooms with en suite baths, a total of 6.5 baths, media room, 3 kitchens, separate quarters for guests, a pool in the courtyard and a lifestyle that will be envied by many. A true piece of Del Mar history not available in the past 30 years. Can you say $39,500,000?
