Take In A Day At The ND State Fair
We had a great day at the yesterday and if you have not been there yet I sure want to encourage you to get there before it ends on Saturday August 1st at Midnight.
One of our favorite shows this year was the Diving Pirates on one of the free stages. If you look close at the pic below you will see the star of the show as he is in a back flip position leaving the 80 foot high platform. These guys were very funny and very skilled showmen.
We were there from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and no one in the family was bored. The kids (teens) went on the rides but mom and dad just enjoyed the free stages, the commercial booths, the 4H exhibits, and of course a lot of people watching (they really do come in all shapes and sizes).
We love to go on "Military Day" because if you've ever worried about the kinds of characters who visit fairs you need not worry when you are surrounded by this crowd. How often can you be in a crowed place like a State Fair and everyone says "excuse me, thank you, go ahead sir" and so on?
My favorite moment at the fair was in one of the commercial boots at an exhibit by the US Marines. They had a chin-up bar and many young men in excellent shape were trying to win a T-shirt by completeing a certain exercize. I didn't see any of them win BUT my 15 year old 90 pound daughter showed them all and walked off with the prize (and gave it to dad). It was so cool.
