Our tenant telephoned us Sunday morning to alert us that "it" was still there.  She had not spent the night in her third floor apartment, because she was afraid "it" would show up again and terrorize her.  Saturday night we  searched and never found "it".  What gave her the first clue that an "it" was there, was when she first entered in, observed garbage strewn on the kitchen floor, and a nibbled upon green apple in the midst of it all.  She immediately backed out slowly, slammed and locked the door, and called us.

Back to Sunday morning...... OK, we're coming! we tell her, then hang up the phone!  The drive to Matteson is about 30 minutes from where we live. We get there to see Rick, whom we'd made prior arrangements to meet, waiting for us in front of the building  wearing a huge grin on his face, a pair of ski goggles, and toting a cage in his hand.  Tony and i instantly took to him and knew he was the man for the job.  We enter the building together, climb to the third floor, and watch Rick enter into the closed bedroom door where "it" was.  Before he goes in he warns us:  "NO MATTER WHAT YOU HEAR, SEE,  OR  THINK....DO NOT OPEN THIS DOOR!"

One minute later, Rick surfaces with "it"...a wild fuzzy squirrel.  The uninvited guest that showed up for breakfast yesterday at "Tiffany's" (our tenant).   We wish to thank "Windy City Wildlife Service" for sending Rick to the rescue!

Breakfast at Tiffany's will be for "invited" guests only......from now on!

.....And here he is - Mr. Wild Fuzzy himself!

Yep! there's a hole up there near the vent....no problem, we can fix it!

Oh Diane, I LOVE this post!  All along I thought "it" was a mouse and I could relate.  I'm glad Rick let you take pictures for us.  Hurray for Rick for saving the day! (and the squirrel).

I love the photos.  I wasn't sure what "it" was going to be.  Glad to hear it was only a squirrel and that the story had a happy ending.

I was actually doing an inspection on an older house - stuck my head in a corner of the attic and came face-to-face with a squirrel just like that.  I'm still surprised I didn't fall thru the ceiling getting back out!  A great story, and good job of relocating him...

Tony:  I like that title (wish i had thought of it first) thanks for visiting and commenting

Brett:  Rick is really a "squirrel man"  this one he said was a male and was clean with no rabies.  Now, he also says it's mating season, so we are really relieved it was no female with a liter behind!  whew!

Randy:  Thank goodness we haven't had any reports of rats or mice in the neighborhood since the owner had the building over 6 years ago.  Thanks for your comment.

Maggie: I'm glad you came by and left your comment!  The tenant was terrified!

Sharon: Rick really IS professional....i am amazed  by him...you know what?  He said he used to "EAT" squirrels because they were so poor.....(i think he must have a little still in him because he knows their nature so well).  He actually went in there, and caught him with his own hand!!!!

Heather: The other good part about this happy ending is that Rick will definitely be the one i will call and refer to everyone i know!  We hit it off instantly!  He sincerely ENJOYS what he does.

Andrew:  thank you! OMG did you get scratched?????

Diane, very funny post. My sister had a run in with a raccoon in the fire place on New Years Eve while having a rather large party.  Imagine trying to get somebody out on New Years Eve to catch a fur ball?

Laurie!! it's an honor to have you visit and comment - thank you!  Raccoons are very ferocious - we had one stuck in our window well 2 months ago.  So, what happened?  Did she quickly add "roasted coon" to the menu??

Luke!!!  The little guy DID eat, and Rick took him with him to "squirrel land" to bond with other productive squirrels.  I believe he'll be alright...he wasn't an enemy, just in the way, that's all.  Sounds like you love squirrels.

Diane, I just got home and heard your message so here I am and a big congratulations for you and the "it" factor. Can squirrels bite? Do you ever watch America's Funniest Video's? Did you see the one where the squirrel got in the house of a family and they darn near destroyed all their furniture and accessories running from the little critter? It is a "hold on tight" kind of funny. Sooooo where did your tenant go while she was waiting for you? It looks pretty cold out there! I am so happy for you! Who knew a critter would be your claim to fame!!!

Diane, Close, they were starting a fire and the raccoon dropped down out of the chimney, causing quite a scene.  They somehow managed to get the log out and threw it into a pile of snow outside and trapped the raccoon in the fireplace behind the glass doors until it could be removed.   It is very expensive to get somebody to come out on New Years Eve.

Diane,

I'm glad he (the squirrel) was taken to squirrel land to bond with others:)  I hate hearing the stories when they get shot at! Guess the squirrels are cold, too. Although they have been known to nest and never come out once they get comfortable...makes it hard to sell a house with them in it! Congrats on the feature. You deserve it!!

Broker Bryant star of excellence:)

I had some English vacationers call me years ago from one of my homes that I managed. They were sitting out by the pool and a huge turkey vulture flew through the screen enclosure and was flapping all over the deck. His wing span was a good 6 feet!! I'm just lucky they didn't have a heart attack.

Diane in December at my husband office squirrels got into the attic.  I sure wished they had gotten someone like Rick to take care of the matter.  The solution implemented resulted in my husband going to the emergency room twice and since then many visits to the ENT.

Now this is funny.  It is a good thing it was a a fuzy little thing.  Better than it all being in the head.  I have had some of those too.  Sorry it had to be on a Sunday, but that is what we all go through in this business.

Diane , I really enjoyed Breakfast at Tiffany's. I was in suspense.  It gave favor to Ghost Busters. This brought back memories of when a friend was trapped in her room because bees had formed a home inside the wall.  I'm sure there was plenty of honey, so where was Phooh Bear?
