On Wednesday afternoon of this week, we drove into Los Angeles for a keynote that Ron was giving on the subject of Branding and Marketing for Crowd Financing for Real Estate conference. After the talk, we opted out of the cocktail hour. Instead, we headed to our friend's restaurant, Il Forno, in Santa Monica.
Our friend suggested we try one of Michael David's Wine called Earthquake (2012), from Lodi. This is a small production of 31,000 cases. Part of their identity is to create unique and eye catching labels, which this one really is.
It is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, full bodied and easy to drink. The Wine Advocate gave it a 90 rating, ($24.95). Below is their review:
"Aged in French oak, it reveals more charcoal and smoky barbecue notes intermixed with the tell-tale hallmark of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, blackcurrant fruit, as well as tobacco leaf and licorice characteristics. With surprising complexity, this dense, medium to full-bodied, rich Cabernet Sauvignon should keep for 5-7 years. It tastes like it should cost 3 to 4 times the price."
We enjoyed it with our dinner, which was superb. It was a good way to end the day, and head back home.
Have a great weekend!
