Summer is a wonderful time for music outdoors. So many towns offer up a few hours of music on town greens for residents and friends to enjoy. It's no different for the professional orchestras. The Hartford Symphony Orchestra just completed it's 20th year of summer music at the Meadows shell in Simsbury CT. Known as the Talcott Mountain Music Festival it is every bit as good as one cold expect from a world renown orchestra.
This summer the music was a varied presentation with the first concert being devoted to Latin sounds with the Mambo Kings.
That was followed by the celebration of America concert of July 3, followed by the fireworks. This concert drew the largest crown ever at over 10,000 on the field.
Classical music was the theme for the concert on July 10 that was the official 20th anniversary date of the Festival.
Music of the 70's filled the night for the Night Fever theme on July 17
For the finale, the music of Queen was performed by the HSO and the rock group Torch and singer Brody Dolyniuk. The crowds was into the presentations and all the best of Queen were immediately recognized and cheered.
It was a wonderful night and a great series of themes for this years concerts.
All done for the year but the memories will last a lot longer.
