Lately, I am fascinated by all things video. My new obsession makes sense: I typically play some documentary or video in the background, while doing any kind of housework: cooking, cleaning, laundry. I do more listening than watching, but I’ve learned a lot from these videos.
I’ve used my YouTube channel primarily to post videos I create to use in my blogs about various properties and neighborhoods. I’ve also used my channel to post videos for my clients.
I sell Real Estate in Myrtle Beach, so most of my clients are not here for the closing, since they live elsewhere. I typically stream live video of the walk-through via Ustream, or Facetime, so they can see their soon to be condo (or home) in all its glory, right before closing (most of my closings are done by mail).
With my client hundreds, or even thousands of miles away, I stream live video footage of the property, so they can see it in real time. They can ask me to open drawers, take a close look at particular parts of the property, show them the interior of the oven, or refrigerator, take a look at the landscaping, or pool. They participate in every step of the livestream, directing me to the items they want to view. Even though they are far away, they get to see the property as if they were here. This has worked very well for me and my clients.
On occasion, the Internet connection is too weak for live streaming and that’s when I videotape the unit and post it on YouTube. If you peruse my channel, MyrtleBeachGuru, you’ll see a lot of clips with mere numbers and no descriptions. Those are the videos I took for my clients. Sometimes I delete the video after my clients view it, but mostly I leave it on there, in case they want to watch it again.
I’ve also used my YouTube channel to post videos from my travels around the world. These too are numbered, since they are primarily for my viewing pleasure.
Lately, I’ve been giving a lot of thought to cleaning up my channel, making those numbered videos private and posting descriptive videos that could garner clients.
I am delving into this last bastion of Social Media that I haven’t mastered yet. As I study the subject of YouTube, I’ll be posting all that I learn, so that you can benefit from it too.
At this juncture, I’d like to ask how you use your YouTube channel and what advice you might have for me. Your suggestions will be much appreciated!
Thank you!
Mirela Monte, Your Myrtle Beach Connection
