Discover beautiful Idaho >> Why I Love This State

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Advantage

Have you ever had the feeling that you took your home for granted?  Took your city for granted?  Took your state for granted?

I am a native Idahoan and have traveled to all but 7 states in this great country but I continue to be in awe of Idaho and the amazing diversity of this great state.  One can travel all over Idaho and feel like you have been in at least 5 different states.  It offers everything from deserts to majestic mountains and everything in between.

Last September USA today wrote the amazing article No End In Site For Idaho's Growth   and just took everyone by surprise when it said quote: "With all due respect to Phoenix, Las Vegas and Orlando, the heart of American's biggest economic boom is right here in Idaho"

The Albertson's grocery stores originated in Idaho.  Micron Technologies, one of the largest chip manufacturers in the world originated and is headquartered in Idaho.  The printer division of Hewlett-Packard in headquartered in Idaho.  Aside from its famous Potatoes Idaho produces over 70% of all the agricultural seed crops grown in the world.  Idaho is also a favorite destination for avid outdoorsmen and site seers.

What's there not to love about Idaho?

  • Boise River of Idaho
  • Caldwell Idaho
  • Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge - Nampa, Idaho
  • Ste. Chapelle Winery of Idaho
  • The Snake River of Idaho
  • Northwest Nazarene University
  • Nampa Idaho
  • Albertson College of Idaho - An Idaho "Gem"
  • The Salmon River of Idaho - "The River of no Return"

George - between the ages of 4 and 10 I was fortunate enough to visit all 48 of the contiguous states.  I can't remember any of them that I didn't find interesting.  Unfortunately I was so young that the things that were of interest then may not be as interesting now.  LOL  I can truly say that your descriptions of Idaho and the beautiful photos and the video have stirred my feet into "go mode."

Keep an eye on that front porch - never know who you will see coming up the driveway.  ;)

Years ago a girlfriend and I drove up and down through the states on a camping/vacation.....on our way back to BC we drove through Idaho......and ended up in a place (if i remember correctly) called Moon Crater Park?  Does that sound right?  It was right around twilight time..........and we were running on empty - yep the song was playing on the radio.....not a gas station in sight that was open.......And all of a sudden we felt like we'd landed on the moon.....surrounded by black craters....it was both eerie and bewitching....we ended up at a campground where the owner let us use as vacant trailer......in the morning I remember him telling us stories about 'furbearing fish'.....or something weird like that.....anyhow.....it was one of those times that just 'stays with you'......Was it all a dream? :-)

George, at one time I lived in Pocatello, Idaho - many years ago. I've been through Idaho Falls, Boise, Twin Falls, and most areas on the east and south, but never to the northwest part. It is a beautiful state, and I love the rolling hills, mountains and beautiful scenery. BUT - I don't like snow!!! ;-)

Teri,  Thanks my friend.  The beauty of the S.W. corner is we rarily get snow in the winter and when we do receive it, it does not las long at all.  We also get very little wind here in the S.W. corner like the south central and south eastern part do.  I am a golfer and most years I can actually golf year around!  I have been down to your state and golfed North Troon and Greyhawk in Scottsdale.  I hope to get down to Arizona some time this year.  Want to tee it up?

George, absolutely. We can grab Candace and my hubby, and play a foursome! She's been wanting to get together. Just let us know when you'll be in town -please try and come when it's not 100 degrees! ;-) It's been beautiful this week. Played on Monday - too hot at 95 degrees, played yesterday - high 70's, perfect!!! ;-)

Hi George, That was a beautiful presentation and there is no doubt that you have a lot of pride in your home state. I admit to not knowing nearly as much about your great state as I likely should. Maybe over the next couple years I can correct that. A beautiful land. What killed so many trees? I noticed in the video that many of the evergreens seemed to have died. Would make an interesting post. Thanks again for the enlightenment. It was pleasure to read and watch the video.

William - Thanks for your thoughtful comment.  We have forest fires every few years as all the Pacific Northwest does an we always come back from them.  I appreciate you stopping by and have a fabulous weekend.

I really like the use of the YouTube vid... I haven't ventured to using those yet. I may have to revise my attitude towards it. Do you find it helps you generate hits and leads?

Good morning Sarah.  I don't know if more people are drawn to blogs or sites with videos but I do think it adds a new dimension to blogs especially. If you need any assistance please let me know and I hope you have a wonderful day.

What an awesome video and I like the song!  Watching it makes me want to take a trip there and just fish all day!  The scenery is beautiful and your state has water!  I wish we had more lakes here in Colorado.  Thanks for sharing some facts with us about Idaho too!
