Our Home Renovation: 1920’s Bathroom

One of the good things about living in the house during construction is that you can grab a cup of coffee in the morning and check out the previous day's work while still in your pajamas. So here I am checking out the tile shower surround and the cool diamond-shaped border:

Our contractor suggested the shelf in the wall niche. He says you keep shampoo below and soap above. That makes sense.

I saw so many great examples of 1920’s bathrooms with board and batten wainscoting on HOUZZ, and I wanted to see that same freshness here. We made the upper rail extra high to blend with the side panels on the built-in cupboard:

The effect will be one of a continuous board surrounding the room. It makes me want to add hat hooks for towels instead of a towel bar.

The bathroom used to have a large crown molding all along the ceiling. Our intent was to add it along the top of the cupboard. Now that we have the clean straight lines of the board and batten, we are thinking that crown might conflict with the style.

What do you think? Should we keep the crown molding? Should we ditch it? Or should we just have a flat 2 x 4 as our ceiling edge?

I love this post! It's always exciting to take pride in what you've done how you can transform your own environment with some paint or some new panels, any decor or colors! I like the molding. Have a great day!

Nice Post!!
Last month I also renovated my bathroom. I changed my wall and floor tiles, fixtures, and my bathtub. My grandma was shifted in our home so I changed my bathtub into a walk in bathtub so that it could allow her to bathe safely. So, I have installed walk in bathtub in my bathroom by the professionals walk in tub Spokane team which was recommended by my wife. After the renovation of our bathroom it feels good about the changes, your bathroom looks that much better and it has added some value to our home.

Looks lovely Mary!

I personally plan on a new freestanding tub in my MBA. It can steal the show in a bathroom revamp. It's not only a great design feature but also a way to create a relaxing, spa-like atmosphere.
