It's National Cheesecake Day today, July 30th! Who doesn't love cheesecake? One of the things I love about cheescake is that the varieties of flavors and textures can be virtually endless so it's hard to get bored with cheesecake. And I also love the fact that because cheesecake can be a rich dessert and because it packs so much flavor into a bite, one can have just a few bites and feel satisfied and indulged. (Good for the taste buds and the waist line!)
And did you know that cheesecake is a historical and venerable food item? It was first recorded in history by the Greeks in 778 BC when it was considered an energy food and the food of Olympians. Over the centuries it's evolved into the gourmet dessert as we think of it today.
Here's where you can celebrate National Cheescake Day in Charlotte:
-
At The Cheesecake Factory where slices of cheesecake are being offered today at half price. Do you have a favorite Cheescake Factory flavor? Mine is vanilla bean--simply sinful. There's a big Cheesecake Factory (then again, aren't they all big?) in the SouthPark Mall at 4400 Sharon Road.
-
At Gigi's Cupcakes where all cheesecakes will be $2.50 today at the store. But if you're needing a fabulous dessert for another DAY IN THE FUTURE, they are also offering an ONLINE ONLY SPECIAL TODAY where if you purchase 4 or more cheesecakes online, use coupon code SAYCHEESECAKE at checkout and get 20% off your cheesecake order. Gigi's Cupcakes are located in Charlotte's South Park area at 4732 Sharon Road.
- At Harris Teeter Grocery Stores in the Charlotte metro area, where you can buy a fresh-baked Blueberry Cheescake for just $7.99--and you can keep celebrating National Cheesecake Day at this price for virtually a month until August 25th! (You do need to be a VIC card holder.) Click here to find a Harris Teeter store near you.
