YouTube Thursdays - Introductory Videos 2015
Debb James of Clark County, Washington, is an expert on videos and we've learned a tremendous amount from her. In this blog post from earlier today, she does a great job outlining what is necessary in an introductory video.
We're struggling with video. We have lots of excuses as to why we don't have great videos promoting our business, but I won't bore you with them (although some are really quite creative...). The truth is, we need advice from people like Debb to help us leap into this as yet barely uncharted territory for us.

You know I’ve written about them before, and even won an Active Rain contest in 2011 for my submission of an introductory video. Honestly, looking at the video now, it's no longer relevant. Nor, in my opinion, is it interesting enough to hold a viewer's attention. In fact, it darn near embarrasses me. Ha. Therefore, I’ve been looking around for new ideas.First of all, I want this video to immediately grab the attention of potential viewers. It needs to be entertaining, informative, relatable ( to like-minded potential clients), and short! The last thing most of us want to look at is a talking head drone on for 2 or 3 minutes.
The Right StuffThis week while visiting the blog of Wanda Kubat-Nerdin , I noticed an introductory video embedded in her signature. It’s awesome. In fact, close to perfection. Wanda’s love and passion for her market shines through. She comes across as a relatable and likable human being.
The video is about a minute and half long. It easily held my attention due to the scenery, scene changes, and Wanda’s comfortable dialog. I’m sure golfers feel an instant kinship, as did this hiker! Love her conclusion - “They come here one time and decide, this is where they want to be.”
Wanda tells me her accomplished friends, a cinematography and a pianist/play-wright, produced the video at their studio. If we had to pay someone to help produce a similar video, it would be well worth the one-time expense. Don't you think the video does a great job of introducing Wanda, and her passion for the Southern Utah market where she lives, works, and plays?
