ASK AN AMBASSADOR: Is It Tuesday Again?
(Aka why blogging schedules can help you blog until you succeed)
Every Tuesday we try to share something that can be helpful to the community. Maybe it's something AR community specific, maybe it's something blogging specific, maybe it's related to overall marketing. Some weeks we do better than others, but there's one thing this blogging routine does for us, and that is create a routine!
Once upon a time posting more than once a day for us wasn't unusual. Over time, that practice changed until now, when we post daily, but rarely more than once in a day.
We've posted a fairly large body of work out there & it's working for us nonstop, placing on the search results, attracting eyes and clicks, driving traffic to our IDX pages, and sometimes leading to that desired email or phone call from a potential client. It's a good thing, what we strive for with our blogging.
A key for us to blog regularly has been developing a routine. Like we mentioned, every Tuesday has been Ask An Ambassador day and has been for about two years running. Other days of the month are set aside for market reports (the 1st of each month, and then around the 5th to 10th of each month). We scatter in some local events depending on how mood and time allows. Frankly local event posts are some of the easiest to update if you're in a time crunch. Pull the latest details for time, place, cost, etc. and you're good to go for that local festival, sports tourney, first day of school, etc.
Our experience (and we think this holds true for most regular bloggers) is the more often you post, the easier it gets. Your idea sources are out there (other blog posts, newspapers, internet news, customer experiences, listings, market changes, subdivisions, new construction news, etc.). There really is no lack of possibilities, it all comes down to what you have the time and mood to write that day.
Is ActiveRain worth it? To us that's an easy question to answer. YES! It's a key part of our Internet presence. Blog posts from ActiveRain CAN rank page 1 and that's without keyword stuffing. Identifying what works for YOUR local market (a niche or two?) and developing that theme has been critical for us.
And patience, you're going to need this too. Blogging is NOT an overnight success thing, but a steady accumulation of web presence until you hit critical mass. Why do you think the point system is in place? Short answer, to keep you motivated and engaged UNTIL your blogging has results. After that, you just might find the phone rings are all the motivation you need!
Until next Tuesday, just Ask An Ambassador if you need help!
