Where Do I Place My Garbage Can According To Feng Shui?

If you have the option of concealing your garbage can try that suggestion.   You could place it under the sink or off to the side of the room it has been placed in so when walking into that given space it's not the first item you see.

Naturally keep your garbage cans clean. Smell can also impact the energy and being practical, no one deserves to walk into a smelly house or office.

What if you cannot conceal or move the garbage can? Then you have to become a bit creative with the style of garbage you select.  Take into consideration shape, color, size and texture.

In my home I need a garbage can in my kitchen (as most do) and this falls into the Fame area. Not an ideal place to have a garbage can but sometimes you need to work with what you have. So I bought a garbage can with the accent color of red and my space allows me to conceal it.

In my bathroom I used to have a plastic white garbage can that created a cold feeling, so I decided to swap it out for a wicker trash can which added a softer spa like feeling.

No need to over think Feng Shui.

Mine is under my kitchen sink.  I hate viewing trash cans when I walk into a kitchen.

Hi Laura, I have never put much thought into how my garbage cans looked.

I do try to have plenty of them distributed around the home and especially the office.

We use basic 5 gallon paint buckets, nothing fancy, but always handy to clear away some trash or recycling item that would otherwise be creating clutter on a desk.

Yes, that dreaded looking trash can!   One thing I learned, very quickly, was to NOT place that trash can on my wife's desk in the home office... I thought I was being subtle about cleaning up her messy desk.   So, do not make light of it!!

My kitchen trash can goes under the sink, as do my bathroom ones. I hate seeing trash cans out in the open. In my office I have a beautiful wooded painted trash can which is like a work of art!

Dan Hopper... if my husband ever put a trash can on my desk, he wouldn't live to tell the tale!

I don't think trash or even the trash "can" should ever be on display. I have a stainless steel trash compactor appliance in my kitchen, composting goes outside and yuckie kitchen stuff goes in a sealed can in the garage. I few extra steps maybe but its worth it. I find so many homes with this giant can prominently displayed in the kitchen like its a Subzero refrigerator or something-just lazy!

Interesting post . . . . on an interesting topic . . . . thanks for sharing your insight.

We keep the trash can clean . . . . and out of sight.

Good luck and success.

Hi Laura.  Excellent ways to make an unpleasant object be a bit more palatable.
