Where's the window well drain?

A drain is useless if it's buried under dirt and leaves. Four window well drains were completely covered and water was seeping through basement windows. This is home owner neglect at it's finest.

I see that all the time.

In addition to the drain , those inexpensive clear plastic "windows" that go over the well can really shed away quite a bit of water instead of having it pool up in the window well.  (I"m so happy I now have a walk-out basement..

People don't realize that simple preventive maintenance is essential for avoiding major problems down the road.

Hi Erol,  I've seen more basement window wells both full of debris as well as overgrown with weeds and ivy.  It seems to be the LAST thing homeowners take care of, if ever.

One of those things we just seem to forget or sometimes don't even know about.
