Moving South - Retire to NC or SC? The answer is YES! Both of the Carolinas hold destiny for you. We are the new Florida. In this Choice Carolina Homes YouTube video, my colleague Elaine (with her magical British accent) demonstrates a new construction home here in the Charlotte metro area. The home builder she represents just won the local MAME award for Builder of the Year and they build in Fort Mill and Rock Hill SC and all of Charlotte. She's a relocation queen.
Why is everyone moving to Charlotte?
Full disclosure: I personally relocated to Hilton Head, South Carolina from the Midwest in 2008. Loved it! A few years later, I gravitated to Charlotte, NC. Now living at the beach was an awesome experience, but Charlotte is cool for this reason. It is a large city, whereas Hilton Head is a small town, no matter how you slice it. Plus, Charlotte is just two hours away from the mountains (Asheville, Brevard, Blue Ridge Mountains). And it's just 3+ hours from the NC beaches of Ocean Isle and Sunset Beach and just over 4 hours from Hilton Head. Close to the mountains, close to the beach, with the benefits of a good-sized town.
Moving South to North or South Carolina
So if you're retiring and considering relocation, here's what Top Retirement's blog said: "NC has taller mountains and more towns in mountainous areas, if that is what you are looking for. South Carolina might have the most interesting city, Charleston. Comparing the negative side of each state, North Carolina is often named as a problem state for retirement, mostly due to its tax structure and fiscal health. South Carolina is probably less of a melting pot than its northern cousin, and more of a 'southern' state."
Call or Text me to discuss your move! 704-345-3400. The Carolinas are now a more popular retirement destination than Florida. In fact, we are the NEW Florida! And if you ask nicely, we just might visit Elaine in her Model Home. Speaking of which, I love how she talks about me in this quick video.
