6:30pm – Conservation Lecture Series: UNF shark experts explain their research and how it is impacting shark populations. $25 include the presentation, buffet dinner and admission to the Groove at the Zoo concert.

7:30pm to 10:30pm – Groove at the Zoo on the Great Lawn. Enjoy live music by one of Jacksonville’s best party bands and dance the night away under the stars. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. $15 in advance, $20 at the Main Gate the night of the event.

North American Shark Festival—Conservation with Bite

10am to 4pm on the Great Lawn with special animal experiences in Stingray Bay and Penguins.

 

 

 

Featuring shark-themed art and crafts, booths, activities, and live music.

Participating organizations include University of North Florida, Aqua Jax, St. Augustine Aquarium, Jacksonville University, Fish and Wildlife Commission, North Carolina Aquarium.

There will be special break-out sessions/presentations by leading academic researchers including UNF, JU, and FWC.

Family activities and snacks provided by Cantina Laredo will begin at 7:30pm, and there will also be special character appearances before the feature film, ‘Big Hero 6,’ begins at 8:30pm. Several St. Johns Town Center retailers will have donation jars out in support of Wolfson Children’s Hospital, and some retailers will offer discounts in exchange for donations to the hospital.

Jax Beach Art Walk, held on the second Tuesday of every month. This family friendly event takes place in front of businesses along 1st St from Beach Blvd north to 5th Ave N. The Jax Beach Art Walk showcases local artists and the businesses in the community. Many of the participating businesses will have live music and specials throughout the art walk.
