I have a deal where my buyers were looking to close this week. They wanted to be in their new home before next week because they're teachers and were hoping to work on the home during school vacation. So I was aware that their attorney was trying to set something up and get a closing going. I emailed him this morning and he told me that he was still trying to get confirmation from all parties and he'll let me know when he's got all the details. OK......but then at 12:30 I get a call from my buyers. SUPRISE!!!....we're closing in an hour. WOW, talk about insane. We met up at the home for a quick walk thru inspection and caravan over to the closing.
It's amazing how the buyers attorney got everyone to show up. In case you were wondering about this crazy situation - the rush was because today was their final day before the commitment expires and they lose their great rate and 1:30 was the only time the sellers attorney would be available, who by the way, left before the end of the closing and without his check. Then the sellers had to leave because they need to be home for the school bus drop off, so they left without their check.
Totally bizarre day, with an equally bizarre closing. But it all worked out in the end. What a great surprise - got a nice commission check and it wasn't even on my "to do" list for today! So I just want to put it out there, any of my clients or their attorneys wish to surprise me like this, please feel free. I've always loved a good surprise.
