Quiet Time Before Saddles Blaze

By
Real Estate Agent

If this table could talk, it would likely have a tale to tell tomorrow.  Tonight my family is coming home.  They won't be able to enter the door without a cowboy hat, or other western attire.  Tonight is Blazing Saddles Nite at my house.  Think BEANS, Meat, Potato Bombs, and Corn Bread.  We'll have dinner around the table pictured, then we'll have few western movies to select and watch.  "Blazing Saddles" - "Paint Your Wagon" - "City Slickers" comes to mind.

After the movie, it'll be dark outside.  The campfire in the backyard is ready for lighting.  Marshmallows will likely be toasted.  Oh, did I mention there would be BEANS with dinner.  If you want a clue, here's a link to the Infamous Campfire scene from Blazing Saddles.  I hope you'all have a GREAT weekend!

All - Thank you for your kind comments.  We had a really fun evening.  After dinner and the movie, everyone was too exhausted to light the fire, but we had a whole lot of fun anyway!

Love this family story, your table setting, the theme, and the after dinner photo too! You are an incredible woman. I'd much rather watch The Jeffcoats on TV than the Kardashians; but since that's not possible, I would rather read posts about The Jeffcoats on ActiveRain! Oh, how I would love to be at one of your family dinner parties. It sounds like so much fun!!!

I love this!  What started this tradition?  Mind if I borrow it sometime?

Judi K Barrett - I really don't remember for certain what started the tradition.  We've had several pirate parties in the past, that celebrated where pirates went, with caribbean dishes, and spanish dishes.  Even the pirates from Charleston, S.C.  This year, we were talking about the infamous campfire scene from the old classic movie, "Blazing Saddles."  The family thought it would be fun to have me cook up a pot of beans and watch the  movie. Sure, Judi - I don't mind if you borrow it!

Robert (Bob) Gilbert - We were all pooped out after dinner and the movie.  The campfire never got lit.  Oh, that's "pooped" out from exhaustion, not the beans!

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I have found that putting a theme on these little event just seems to make it more fun for the kids, and for me too!

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents - You have no idea!  Everytime one of those little bodies under the quilt would laugh, a bean blast would occur!  It was hilarious!

Aloha Myrl,

What no Smore's? It sounds like the beans and corn bread were a smokin, despite the bonfire not being a stokin. The gingham table cloth and spindle chairs really set the mood, what a lovely tradition. Thanks for sharing.
