Stretch Your Limits One Goal at the Time

“A successful person will typically sets their goals somewhat

higher . . . . but not too much above his last achievement.

In doing so they stretch their limits on goal at a time.”

Lou Ludwig, Sales and Management Consultant,

Success Coach, Speaker, Trainer and Author

As I see it . . . . . . .

Stretch your limits one goal at the time

With each goal that you achieve . . . . raise the bar to the next level.

When you set a goal . . . . you create a vision of achievement for the future. With that vision you stretch your thinking . . . . and yourself to reach a little further . . . . and to a new and higher level.

With each goal that you achieve . . . .  You will grow as a person . . . . set the bar a little higher for personal performance and your personal growth will continue to reach new heights.

The key is to continuously move the bar up . . .  . and to benchmark off the success of your last goal.

Initially by raising the bar is may not appear that your making much progress. But over time by raising the bar . . . . you change your standards to a new and higher level . . . . You will leave a trail of stepping stones that are moving you in the direction of achieving your goals.

Stretch your limits one goal at the time . . . . and in time your steps will turn into a big difference in your career.

Lou Ludwig I really like the idea of raising the bar "a little higher" and not so much that one will get discouraged.

Good morning, Lou... this is a great reminder for me. I can always see the big picture and the end result and then get overwhelmed by all the steps it takes to get there. I work hard at digesting one piece of a puzzle at a time and keep moving forward.

Lou - it works better when you focus on one goal at a time rather than jumping around.

Good morning Lou.  Taking that first step or setting that first goal is all important.  You can't grow or learn if you don't

Raise the bar is in every successful business plan.

Wall Street expects every corporation to upset the expectation with surprising profits. When one can not do it he believes in his own lies. You realize how steep hike  one needs to take to the next level....

Trying to achieve many goals at once is a difficult task, so I agree that they should be worked on one at a time!!!  Sometimes the result will be that mulitple goals are reached by way of achieving the one goal anyways!!!

Some people subscribe to the thinking that your goals should be aspiring and beyond what you can achieve. I like to think I can reach them then move them higher.

I like to aim beyond what seems possible and then create mini goals or steps that I can reach. Each one gets me closer to what seems impossible, yet becomes possible over time.

It's very similar to learning an instrument in the sense that if you slow down the parts and take the time to learn, the whole becomes easier and second nature like brushing your teeth.

Reminds me of the TV Program, the NINJA WARRIOR, Monday nights on NBC.  I love the way they tackle the one segment of raising the bar higher and higher. That is one of my favorite parts. It seems a very difficult task and yet similar in analogy to your post, at least to me....
