I must say that my voice has seen better days. However, the satisfaction that goes with the "stressing" of the voice and the decibel level that has to be achieved and maintained, when attempting to yell commands that have to overcome inner hearing protection and Motor Helmets, is quite draining and destructive. I must say that I do love the fact I am a Reserve Police Officer and have no regrets in quitting from being a full time officer after 17 years, March 29, 2007.
Real Estate has its exciting points too. It has its ups and downs - there are other agents that will do their best to take advantage of anyone's kindness. There is a certain brotherhood between agents that have my same tenants at their core. All for one, and even though I have been countered before on several points, when I attempted to compare being a Police Officer and the Team Concept with an All commission based industry like Real estate, I still think there is a place for all of us pulling together for the greater good.
What is the greater good. I remember us having no problems in pulling together several years ago when the savings and loan institutions were attempting to get the green light to be able to sell their own REO's and Bank Owned properties. We fought that battle if I remember correctly and the legislation was passed in the Realtor's Favor.
What about business? What does it take to get on the top of the heap. Must you lie, cheat and steal your way to the top? Do those Real Estate Agents that are nice succeed? Can they ultimately get on top?
There is a lot to be said for mistaking kindness for weakness - That is a mistake, when made once, has tragic consequences, especially from by background in Law Enforcement. Judging books by their cover. Ring a bell. One of the tips our parents paid to us when we were children. Don't ever look at something at face value - There is usually a lot more to see before knowing what you are up against.
I am for certain that those that are cheating, stealing and being dishonest, will get theirs. I do believe as well that the truly good will pass and are able to reach the top. I also feel as if when they get to the top they are in better shape and have a world full of friends and their funerals are packed. With legacy's in place - Our mission should be to always do the right thing, if a thing or action fits within the three prong test - Legal? Ethical? Moral? I would ask you to include another. If the hole world was watching you, would you still do it?
