How Often Do You Check Your Email?

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Nowadays, I receive almost as many text messages as I do emails, but emails still win out as the preferred choice for communication among many of my Sacramento real estate clients. I suppose part of that is due to the fact that talking to your phone is sometimes like talking to your cat. Neither gives a crap. It's hard to figure out what I'm saying half the time, but my fabulous assistant is doing a pretty good job at it. I can send her the most garbled stuff, and she'll generally figure it out.

I find autocorrect when thumbing a text can be a PITA as well, especially when it ignores the fact when I click the X and puts in a word I don't want anyway. And when I try to delete, it wants to copy and paste a set of text, and I can't get my finger to make it insert where I want it, and let's just say I understand why people throw their cellphones out of the car window.

You can read more in my personal blog today about email frequency and how to change it to every minute if you want to at this link: How to Change Your Email Frequency in Outlook.

Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents,  I have the same problem with texts on my phone, it can be really frustrating.  I do prefer email when I am on my computer.

My email comes into my Mac, my cell Phone and my Ipad.  I will not be without communication.  And as to texting, it can be annoying, but it's a tool to learn and use.  I picked up a 300K buyer yesterday via text.

I have never noticed a lag on my Droid in getting email real time.  In fact, when I'm at my desk, I have to turn down the volume on the phone because it will ring in a new email moments after my computer.

Elizabeth- I like to text except that darn auto-correct has me saying some of the silliest ( or off-color) things.  I played the piano so you'd think this texting thing would be easy but I continue to press the "I" when I want the"O".

During the day my email is up all the time. It can be difficult not to check it with all that is happening. I do love text and with Google Voice I text right from my PC.

I have a buyer system where the buyer puts a "comment" and I get an email (on their search) so I check my email quite frequently.

Good morning Elizabeth.  I check my email at least every 5 to 15 minutes unless I'm knee deep in *&^%&.  Even when I'm not near my PC my phone give me a ding to let me know I just received another one.

Hi Elizabeth.  I prefer email over texting.  I can type a lot faster than I can text.

Hi Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents , I prefer email to text for the same reasons - autocorrect on texts is not fun. My Windows phone downloads quickly my emails, and I can respond quickly frm the phone if I have to.

Sam Shueh Unless you have some kind of magical iPhone, I can't find a 5 minute setting. My iPhone 6 is 15 minutes minimum.

Chris Ann Cleland The way I avoid the double emails is I leave my phone at 15 minutes, and my computer is set to 2 minutes. That way they do not overlap. Now, my Bluetooth, when somebody calls, goes to all my computers and phones, LOL, and sometimes my computer doesn't stop ringing for a few chimes after I answer the call.

Kathy Streib I do not swear at my phone when talking to it (only after it's not engaged), yet it does type some of the nastiest stuff that I cannot believe my eyes . . . right after I by mistake hit send. Ack.

Chris Webb I text from my computer, too, but I'm not always in front of my computer.

Tammy Lankford I used to get those kinds of emails but now they drive me nuts so I have turned off most notifications. Unless I need to know right now, some stuff can wait.

George Tatar I use Apple Messages, which also works with non-Apple products.

Barbara-Jo Roberts Berberi, MA, TRC - Greater Clearwater Florida Residential Real Estate Professional I keep my email open from 7 AM to 7 PM, and that's enough for most days. Obviously, if a seller is returning time-sensitive documents, I might leave my computer on longer, but most stuff does not fall into that category.

Gabe Sanders My text messages just pop up on my computer monitor in a separate window. It also makes it very easy to copy and paste into a permanent file, although fortunately the state of CA has deemed it is unnecessary to save our text messages, but sometimes I do, depending on content.

Honestly I am addicted to both email and text. I love texting to get short message out. But prefer to type an email from my computer if it is detailed information/response.

Took me awhile to get into texting but now love it! I have my iphone set to notify me of all text messages. But not for email! I get too much junk so it would be going off continually. I probably check every 15 minutes or so... can actually vary depending on what am doing.
