The second Clear the Shelters Day will take place August 15, 2015 nationwide. In the Winchester - Frederick - Warren County areas, two shelters will be participating. Both the Winchester SPCA and the Humane Society of Warren County will participate this year.
NBC is sponsoring the event in an effort to reduce the numbers of shelter animals across the nation. Last year, approximately 2000 pets were adopted from shelters during the event. There were 38 shelters throughout the United States that participated in 2014. This year, it's estimated to be in the hundreds.
The Warren County shelter estimates it will have 100 cats and 30 dogs, and the Winchester SPCA has 160 cats and 20 dogs. The adoption fees are waived for the day. So, drop by from 10 am to 4 pm in Warren County and 10 am to 5 pm in Winchester. A shelter pet is waiting for you.
Remember, fit is just as important as breed or type of pet. You might be surprised at the pet that jumps into your heart when you visit the shelters. Be sure to check local shelters in your area to see if they are participating. Please be open to the one that is open to you, and lets Clear the Shelters. Enjoy the video below.
