If You're the Smartest Person in the Room, You're in the Wrong Room.
When I was in the automotive industry, the GM I worked for would always say "Birds of a feather flock together". As I've gotten older that phrase has stayed with me and I see how true it can be. I also strongly believe that what you read, the books you keep company with also can be reflected in who you are. Over time you are shaped by those people around you along with what books you are feeding your mind with.
I had never seen the quote "If You're the Smartest Person in the Room, You're in the Wrong Room" until today. Someone had posted it in the comments section on a LinkedIn article and I immediately fell in love with the statement.
It is so true. Be careful of the company you keep. By mindful about those around you who are contributing to who you are and how on some level the person you are and are becoming is being molded by your associations. How high or low are you setting the bar on what type of person you are and how much you want to achieve.
Seek out those critical thinkers. Seek out the can do attitude. Seek out the person with a positive attitude. Look for the people who bring the employee of the month work ethic to work everyday.
