Uncontested and underserved market niches are usually not obvious.  That is why they are such outstanding opportunities for luxury real estate marketing professionals who want to dominate a niche.

Recently, we came across a relatively new outsourcing company called TaskUs headquartered in Santa Monica, California. The 29 year-old founders started out as a virtual assistant firm but later discovered an underserved market niche that they could dominate.

Today they provide the back office support and customer service support mostly for Internet start-ups and emerging internet superstars like Uber, Groupon, and even the hot, new online dating service, Tinder. This is not only an underserved market niche but also an uncontested one. Most outsourcing firms target larger companies like big banks and telecommunication firms and would not consider working with start-ups.

TaskUs has a staff of 4000 people in Manila who speak fluent English and enjoy the same kind of relaxed work environment (with tons of perks) that has become the norm for Silicon Valley tech companies. This year TaskUs is projecting $50 million in revenues, up from $14 million in 2014.

TaskUs just landed a funding round of $15 million to expand into yet another uncontested and underserved market niche:  Spanish-speaking customers.  With an eye on tripling their revenue by 2016, they plan on opening new offices in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Columbia.

Start thinking like this startup, TaskUs and you to may discover an underserved or even an uncontested market niche that you can dominate as a luxury real estate marketing professional.  Are you up to the task of finding your market niche?

totally by accident I discovered what has become my niche market of "buy now for weekend, retire here later" market.  Many folks in my market were targeting retirement buyers.  But younger folks with good paying jobs can buy lesser expensive home and I started to target them.  Sometimes they tear down and build (I refer the builder) and sometimes they remodel and add on and sometimes they resell and move up.  But keeping in touch with those not ready to retire buyers for the past 24 years has served me well.

After living in Los Angeles, Westside for many years, I had no idea that Anaheim (other than Disneyland) was a sought after vacation rental area for investors.   Good for you for realizing that and capitalizing on it.  A

Ron and Alexandra Seigel deciding a niche is the key. Go after someone who can appreciate our service (and are under-served - which is the key!).

Love you blogs on Niche Marketing and the examples you share with us.

R&A, If tomorrow goes as expected, I'll have a 2nd new construction patio home under contract for buyers to complete in March of next year.  It took awhile for us to hit critical mass on the patio home niche, but we're getting more and more contacts and able to convert a portion of them into clients.  Others already have an agent and are just looking to pick our brains of the expertise on the niche their agent lacks.  Bill

It is best to have a niche.  Sometimes it is a challenge to find that niche?  Any suggestions on how to ID a niche?

Good morning A & R. Love this statement, "Start thinking like a start up". I hadn't really though about it that way, but you are so right.

Well deserved featured post.

Hmmmmm, my niche.....could it be blogging about "nothing"?  Titles that draw attention?  Nothing important?

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel (A) I love this post.... I've been promoting niche marketing for decades....I've always had a niche or two or three!!! one can have more than one.... my team members are listing agents....we have resale properties as a general niche....but our bread and butter has always been land and new construction....I market for all three... no one in our area markets for land as I do.... the all want to double dip and as a result, they miss the opportunity to secure parcels of land.

Hi Ron and Alexandra...When you live on a large lake you have your niche. It's right there and makes it easy to help others that want to be at a lake too. I do not stray from this area as there is plenty of business right here.

Creating or finding a niche takes time and also dedication. So many want instant results and that doesn't happen. it takes planning and execution. Great post.

We find there are so many underserved markets in our area that could be easily dominated if agents took the time.
