The 2015 spring home buying season extended well into the summer this year with home sales at an annual rate of 5.49 million experiencing the highest pace of home sales since February 2007 when the annual rate was 5.79 million homes. CHARLOTTE, NC HAS NOT BEEN AN EXCEPTION!
The Charlotte, North Carolina region has had a sizzling hot summer in terms of temperature and record breaking heat since June, but... it's also had a sizzling hot summer in terms of home sales. Here are some highlights:
In the Charlotte region, for the week ending August 1, 2015:
- New Listings decreased 3.0% to 1,143
- Pending Sales increased 21.5% to 1,012
- Inventory decreased 20.7% to 13,792
In the month of July 2015:
- Median Sales Price increased 5.5% to $202,500
- Average Sales Price increased 5.6% to $255,125
- Days on Market decreased 15% to 59 days
- Percent of Original List Price Received increased 1.0% to 95.5%
- Months Supply of Inventory decreased 33.0% to 4.0 months
- Distressed sales were just 3.9% of total home sales.
Summer is almost over, but the sizzling hot summer sale season for homes in the Charlotte metro area has not yet appeared to have cooled down and competition for available homes in high-demand neighborhoods remains strong.
