An important part of a Real Estate Agents job is to not just help clients buy or sell their home, but give advice on the many aspects of home ownership.

Here is a great article from houselogic on 6 six every homeowner should do in their new home.

Here is a summary if you are short on time:

1) Change the locks - My team the Winter Group has always advised clients to change the locks right after closing. It's cheap, fast, and protects your new home.

2) Check for plumbing leads - Even after the home inspection, after closing be sure to check for any leaks. It is a lot easier to fix them before all the furniture show up.

3) Steam clean carpets - Do it yourself with a rental or hire a professional, this is a task easiest done before your furniture and boxes show up.

4) Wipe out your cabinets  - Something most people only do once a year, get it done before putting your dishes away. Another tip I use myself is to put paper,  or plastic down. This makes clean up from leaky containers very easy down the road.

5) Give critters the goodbye - If you live in an area that has bug problems, it may be wise to have the exterminator come in and spray before moving in your furniture.

6) Get to know your circuit breaker & main water valve - This is a must!!!! You do not want to be running around looking for these when water is flooding the home or you just lost power. Prepare before you need to.

If you are looking to purchase or sell a home in Las Vegas & Henderson give the Winter Group Las Vegas a call.
