Book Reading Goal

I thought I would check with the ActiveRain faithful to see who are readers out there.  I set a goal to read 2 books a month this year.  So far I have read 8 books so I am ahead of my goal in that area.

I used to not like reading at all.  Now I find it beneficial in a number of ways such as:

1) Learning something new that I can apply

2) Daily motivation and inspiration

3) Exercising my mind- I want to stay sharp

4) I get so much wisdom from my reading

There are many other benefits.  I read mostly motivation, inspirational, and spiritual books.  What do you read?  Why do you read?  Any book reading goals you would like to share?

Chuck. I read self-help books and any kind of motivational. I read for the same reasons. Keeping me sharp and to learn. Thanks for the post, Royal..

Continue to learn is one of the greatest advantages that we can have over our competition.  I love reading a book and discovering something new that I can implement into my business.

I LOVE to read but have found I am not making any time for it. Your post is inspiring me to set aside the time to read.  So I will set a goal of reading 1 book a month for the remainder of 2008.

All the Best!

It only takes about 20 minutes a day to read two 200 page books a month.  Assuming you can read a fairly steady pace.

Congrats! I should really read more!

I prefer mystery novels as relaxation reading...Probably 12-15 per year...I also like to read cookbooks for fun and information, especially the locally produced type from church organizations etc.

Yes, the key is I make notes as I go of what I like and how I could use it. Otherwise you end up like school getting through a lot but not getting much out of it. It's also nice to get together with others and read the same book so you can talk about it.

Hi Chuck - I read because I have to, it's like breathing.  I've always loved to read and luckily my daughter does too.  I read almost anything, but not the self help things.  Burnt out on those.  I just finished a murder mystery and have to decide what to start on next.  Thanks for the post & great job on your reading goal!

I love to read books and learning.  When I travel and even in town it is amazing how fast I can go thru a book on tape if it just comes on as I am driving.  Usually when by myself.

Chuck- I read for the same reasons.  I look for inspiration, motivation and new ideas to be better.  I love true stories and biographies.  I always learn something cool.  My #1 all-time favorite is Fearless Living by Rhonda Britten.  Talk about overcoming adversity.  If you haven't read it yet, definitely put it on your list, you won't be disappointed.  All the best!

Chuck - I love reading but it seems like I read mostly kids books these days... I do have a stack of books that I'm gonna hit very soon!

Chuck - I love to read, and enjoy murder/cop mysteries, as well as inspirational and motivational books.  I also like books on financial planning and financial markets.  Every once in awhile I'll grab a "light" read, too, just for the fun of it.
