Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.
Mary Blandy was born in England on April 6th, 1752. She was raised to be an intelligent, articulate Anglican woman. In 1746 she met and fell in love with Captain William Cranstoun. They wanted to marry, however there was an issue because Captain Cranstoun was already married. Having knowledge of that her father was outraged. Mary was blessed to have a considerable dowry. However the stipulation was it was not going to happen without the blessing of her father or upon his death. So what is a girl in love to do? Well she had only one choice and she started to poison her father. It took several months but he finally succumbed to the poisoning. Some of the servants were able to get ahold of some of the poison and presented it in her trial. She was found guilty and hung on Easter Monday, April 6th, 1752. Captain Cranstoun had fled to France where he died a few days later penniless.
