According to The Power of Visual Storytelling (Walter and Gioglio), the human brain processes visuals 60,000 times faster than text. Keeping that in mind and knowing that more and more millennials are purchasing homes, wouldn’t it make sense to focus your advertising on videos and photography? A lot of us (myself included) often worry that the real estate video has to be super duper professionally produced and that we may not be tech-savvy enough or have enough cash in order to put together something impressive. Not true. Video makes you approachable, and people want to be able to connect with the real estate professionals that they hire. Here are 4 surprisingly simple ideas for how to add video to your marketing bag of tricks:
- Provide a walking tour of your property listing. Using Videolicious or another video creation and editing program, create a video tour of your listing. Videolicious videos are easy to edit and upload, plus you can share them on Facebook and other social media sites.
- Create a 2-minute cooking show in your client’s kitchen. Check out this video and see how this Agent Lincoln Crum cleverly creates a video tour of the home while also sharing his own secret recipe for white bean chicken chili.
- Create a slideshow with voice over. Don’t like how you look on camera? Think the camera adds 10 pounds? Why not create a slideshow with voice over. With YouTube as the 2nd most highly trafficked site on the Internet, you can upload videos of the local communities you service and provide information about real estate using voice over. Hyperlocal informational videos can be embedded on your site and also get traffic on YouTube.
- If all else fails, try PicPlayPost. With this app, you can upload collages to social media that include video that you have filmed on your phone. It’s a fun way to showcase properties and also interact with viewers through a montage that includes both video and photography.
Video is a really great way to increase retention, since video is processed so much more quickly than text. As such, it would stand to reason that I would provide video tutorials in this post. Ironic that I have not, huh?
