Run for Wellness 5K at George Bush Park
The Houston Wellness Project is hosting a 5K no fee Run for Wellness event on Sunday August 30, 2015. All speeds of runners/walkers are welcome. The race purpose is to promote fitness, better health and create a push for folks to reach their health/fitness goals. The start time shown is shown as 7 AM.
Anyone wanting bib with a chip which records official time needs to pregister. If you do not care about know your official time no need to register. The start/finish are located close to the Fun Fair Positive Soccer fields in George Bush Park which is off of Westheimer Parkway about .5 mile east of Westheimer Parkway and Fry Road and a stone throw away from Katy TX.
The course is set on the hike/bike trail. The trail is closed to any type vehicular traffic. However, the trail will be open to other people and participants have to have no more 2 abreast while on the trail. The race committee prefers that you leave headphones off or only use one ear plug on low volume if have music is necessary to participate. They stress “Safety First”
The Wellness 5K will not allow dogs, roller blades, bikes or skateboards in the race.
I speculate numerous participants will want to take part in this fun event as the whole Katy area is loaded with residents who live a healthy lifestyle. I do not run anymore due to hip replacement surgery a few years ago. I support this event as I do any worthwhile health related activity.
