Realtor Vehicles : Big and Small .. Work and Play

I have seen agents in cars of all types and even a motorcycle for business purposes. What strikes me is as real estates evolves on the Internet .. It seem there is also a shift in the way homes are shown.

Example.. my first car in RE  was the Camry in the mid 90's 4 door for buyer clients. Then bigger to the Yukon , actually because I was more of a list agent and needed good sign room. I loved the Yukon but traded for the Toyota Sequoias when they came out . Drove that for almost 10 yrs. Probably one of my favorites. But I realized something... Most buyers in the 2000's were more independent and wanted to follow me in their cars for various reasons. Many had car seats for the kids and after our initial tour we would be meeting for two or three homes at a time at the properties ... it occurred to me buyers really weren't in my car as much although my business was booming in comparison to the 90's.  I downsized to a Mercedes E350 Sport a few yrs ago when gas was at $4.25 /gal . I love the luxury of it but missed the ability to toss a sign in back and the extra "space".  Yesterday I went big again....

Good Bye : mercedes realtor car

Hello :

michele connors realtor greenville FJ Trail Team

My business is close to 50-50. Buyers/ Listings. I also do Commercial and New Construction/Development so Ive had my share of nails and flats. This gal should be more suitable for the terrain and provide me the space for signage . Many of you know I work the beach as well so she can get permitted to drive on the beach fall to spring !! Heck yeah !!! My dogs are going to really love this vehicle !!!

Is your car conducive to your needs at work or home ?? As I raised my two kids and toted their friends from ballet and football many days of the week I appreciated the SUV purchases I made for my job as they paid of in my home life.

How do you see your vehicle in your business plan  ????

I have two vehicles. My eco car is a 6 speed and more sporty and I use it to run around or meet my clients, inspectors, etc. at the houses. When I have clients that I am showing or putting out signs I drive my SUV. It is a Mazda and now 9 years old and still people think it is new. I don' t like the gas mileage I get on it but suck it up. My plan next year is to get a new vehicle and leaning toward a Subaru again. Loved the one I had before.

I like you blog post as I have been trying to figure out what I should get. My car has been great but my kids are growing and yet I find I don't drive clients around to much any more. What to do? Subaru's are great too. We have over 200k on ours. My parents have even more on there's.

Hey Michele, I simply do not allow my clients to follow me unless they have 3 kids or more. I feel like I need the time to bond with them and answer all their questions.

I can't remember the last time I had a buyer in my car. Buyers in Arizona are independent, have navigation systems, and want to be in their own space.

Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert I find that to be so true. They have fast food with them, and want to talk privtely between showings. Its fine with me, It allows me to make calls and stay organized. We do our discussing within the home and I notice they have been able to narrow things down in this time and hash things out and have good questions to present me with ...

Michele Connors I'm on the same page as Debbie Reynolds . For the most part I drive my little Toyota and fold the back seats down to carry signs BUT when I need more space I get out the gas guzzling Honda Odyssey.

Michele, Two years ago my Ford Escort was at the end of the line.  Bought a diesel X-5 and have loved it, but that care somehow became Liz's car and I inherited the itty bitty Miata, which doesn't do snow and it surely doesn't hold a sign in the trunk!  So in March I wrote a check for a 2013 Kia Soul.  Holds a sign, and it's bright red so my buyers won't have trouble following me.  While if we were to make a long trip, the BMW is the way to go for comfort, but for my day to day stuff, the Kia does the job well for me.  Bill

Liz and Bill Spear I like the Soul... And the BMW...  My FJ is riding very nice. Smooth and although I gave up some features, I have added much needed space!

Good morning Michele. I have not driven a call in nearly 40 years, strictly an SUV guy. I never saw a dirt road I didn't like.
