The Little Spray Painted House - YEAH!

By
Real Estate Agent with Amerivest Realty

We have exterior walls!!!

Our house is starting to look like something... something dark, cold, and ominous, but something.

(The post-hurricane-like markings on the front don't help in that regard.  Hopefully, this is the only time there will be spray painted words/numbers/symbols on our house.)

Our address... I'm going to digress a little here...  I'm not completely sold on 1569 Mockingbird Drive. (Well, I guess I technically am since that's what we're buying... but I'm not convinced that I LOVE that address.)  I guess it doesn't really matter...  I contemplated going with the vacant lot next door to avoid having a "69" in my address, but maybe that's just me being immature.  And, if we opted for the lot next door - then we wouldn't be positioned directly in front of the fountain in the lake behind us... and I do love that when you walk in our front door - you'll look through the living room, over our pool, and be perfectly lined up with the fountain.  And, I guess "Mockingbird" is fine - that's the name of the subdivision after all....  It doesn't help that every time we go out there Matt sings (from Dumb and Dumber.. I think...)  "Mock-YEAH!  Ing-YEAH!  Bird-YEAH!" Again, maybe we're just being immature.

Back to more relevant things: 0ur living room floor outlet has not been moved yet, so I sent a follow-up email regarding that - and we're supposed to get a call from our new superintendent tomorrow.

Our rafters and the wood for our interior walls are sitting in the front yard.  (There are about 4-5 houses in our neighborhood that are at about the same point in construction that we're at.  I think the idea is that they'll bring in a crane for a day or two - and put up all the rafters in one fell-swoop.)

And, I'm going to digress one more time...  There's a house to the left of our house that is essentially complete, and it looks like they've started on a house on the lot to the right.  (The other lot we considered.) The house to the left is a 2-story home, I think the biggest floor plan available in our
neighborhood... and if I'm not mistaken from the footprint that I peeked at yesterday - I think the house to the right of ours is also going to be one of the big 2-story ones...  The first image that popped into my head was from a book that my mom used to read to me when I was little, The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton.  (I had to Google that, I didn't just know that off the top of my head.)

But, driving through the neighborhood - there are several 1-story houses in between two 2-story houses... and they're FINE. They don't look dwarfed - and besides - I've reasoned that having bigger/taller structures on either side of me is a GOOD thing, because who's more likely to be struck by lightening....? The tall guy.  And, those bigger houses will block the wind a little bit come the next hurricane...

It looks like it will be a great house.  The address will be easy to remember because most of us are immature!  Good Luck!

Yes Tara Winfield , there are advantages of buying a smaller home than neighbor's two-story homes.
