The Historic Eliason House, Middletown Delaware. The Eliason House was built in 1856 in the then-fashionable  Italianate style by Andrew Eliason (1810-1890). Since he was a subscriber to Thomas Scharf’s 1888 History of Delaware, he was able to write his own biography for the book, describing how he began as a boy as a mule drover, and became a successful landholder and owner of at least 3 farms, as well as a member of the State Legislature.

Eliason House

Through the years, past owners have honored the heritage of this historic home, kept in touch with current owners, and during their ownership, updated it to accommodate modern lifestyles while retaining its historic architecture and surroundings. Its status on the National Register of Historic Places protects it from highway and federally funded projects. A large master suite combines 2 former rooms, and its en suite 5 piece bath is like having a private spa.On over 1 1/2 acres of ground, there is a gorgeous in-ground pool, adjacent outbldg, separate 2 story carriage house, and 3 car garage. Trees include a Fraser Fir on the Big Trees of Delaware list.
