One of the many benefits of living in San Francisco is the diversity of cultures. When it comes to dining, it's all here.
Last night's evening walk took us about 3 miles from home, to enjoy Café Europa.
Located in the Inner Richmond district on California Street between 4th and 5th Avenues, this simple, charming restaurant has been in operation for roughly 3 years. It specializes in Central and Eastern European food, serving some of the favorite dishes from Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, etc.
True to the sign, the pork schnitzel was delicious, as good as I remember from a visit to Vienna. I tried the honey beer, but since I don't care for sweet drinks, once is enough for me. The beer selection was large and interesting--plenty to choose from on subsequent visits.
We enjoy neighborhood restaurants, and it was apparent that many of the diners lived nearby, and came often with their families.
We'll be back to enjoy other dishes, and appreciate the attentive but not intrusive service by the owners and staff.
