Date Night at the Black Bear Pub
This summer, a new tradition has been started at the Black Bear Pub and Restaurant in our Big Canoe community in the North Georgia mountains. It is called, 'Date Night" and couples have two chances each week to participate in this delicious and intimate dining event which includes not only great food and good wine, but the above beautiful mountain view from the restaurant.
Date Night Meals at a Great Price
Each Wednesday and Sunday evening from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm a couple can dine at the Black Pear Pub and share a wonderful meal which includes:
1 shared appetizer
2 salads
2 entrees
1 bottle of house wine
The cost of this romantic date night meal is $39.95 per couple. Other beverages, tax and gratuity are extra. A higher priced wine can be chosen to accompany the meal instead of the house wine and the difference between the chosen wine and the house wine will be added to the bill.
Tonight's Date Night Dinner Choices
Appetizers Choices:
Spinach dip with pita triangles
Fresh scallops with bourbon cream sauce and Parmesan cheese panko
Grit Stix: crispy grits with pimento and cheese sticks and spicy remoulade
We chose the spinach dip with pita triangles and it was so good that we ate the rest of the dip with forks when we ran out of pita triangles!
Salads
The salads were mixed green salads with a choice of dressings.
Dinners:
Pan Seared Blackened Trout served over pimento cheese grits with one side
Citrus Barbecued Chicken served over Succotash with one side
Grilled Flat Iron Steak topped with red onion marmalade served with scalloped potatoes and one side
The choice of sides are: garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus, cheesy grits, green beans and carrots, or broccolini.
Flat Iron Steak
I had the Flat Iron steak with scalloped potatoes and the green beans and carrots. The steak was one of the best I have ever had. It was tender and juicy and I hated to take the last bite. The scalloped potatoes were perfect with a wonderful cheesy sauce and the green beans and carrots were served al dente and tasted quite fresh.
Barbecued Chicken
My husband had the Citrus Barbecued Chicken which he said was quite good, but the favorite on his plate were the garlic mashed potatoes.
Each week the Date Night menu will change giving diners a bit of variety. What an enjoyable and especially delicious way to spend an evening with a romantic partner, loved one or friend. We are so fortunate to live in this wonderful community of Big Canoe and to enjoy all of the amenities, mountain, forest and lake views, and wonderful dining experiences Big Canoe has to offer.
