Being an independent contractor (agent) gives me more flexibility in scheduling my days, weeks and sometimes as far as a month or even a few months ahead. Or so I thought.
Many years ago, I grasped the concept of a pie chart to help me look at the hours in a day and working out my own time to balance work, family and definitely some me time and ….of course time to rest my body and mind; otherwise known as SLEEP.
A while back I wrote a post on time management and how to balance my time using a pie chart. I have to admit I had planned and had every intention of following through but stuff happened the last 5 years. My time was definitely sucked up by more than I could have imagined and I had no time left for blogging (which is one of my biggest passions to market Sally!)
Long story, trying to keep short!
Three months ago, my husband had a talk with me. He said, “The company you work for is NOT your company so stop revolving your life around the company”. In other words, I was not only trying to keep ahead with my sales, BUT, I was working in the office with property management, sales support and office duties 5 days a week too!
There is NO pie chart now but I do make sure that all work is completed within the 3 days I am in the office. (YES…I did put myself first and gave notice to limit myself to 3 days in the office) I work from home for my sales (which by the way hasn’t been too shabby for the first 7.5 months of this year) and I now have more time to get things done in the comforts of my home.
How do you manage your time?
Note: Sally to make sure that the important things are taken care of so I also have time to spend with family. Going to see the Grandsons in about 2 weeks …stay tuned.
