Stocks Dive, Recover and Plummet!!

Stocks had the most mercurial day I can remember ever having seen.  The Dow opened this morning down 1,100 points  prior to coming back to a loss of just over 100 points before sliding steadily downward throughout the afternoon.  Those of us who have been building our 401Ks steadily throughout the years had a sick feeling as we watched the portion invested in equities disintegrate.  The closed the day down 588 points.
