Do you remember the movie "City Slickers"? In the movie Billy Crystals character was asking Curley the trail boss what he thought the Meaning of Life was.

Curly replied by raising his index finger and saying, "One thing."

         Billy Crystal asked, "Your finger?!"

Curley said, "No -the Meaning of Life is just one thing."

         Billy Crystal asked, "What is that one thing?"

Curley replied, "It's different for everyone -that's what you have to figure out."

When I have a question I ask God for the answer - He is the Ultimate Trail Boss on this journey of life. Thinking about this I looked in my NIV Bible under the "Index of Subjects" and sure enough Meaning of Life was listed with some verses under it. Some of the verses did not make any sense to me - but one passage stuck out to me because it just hit home.

That passage was Psalm 27:4-6 when King David was saying boldly that the Meaning of Life -the ONE thing you are seeking is... (here in the Message Version)

 "4 I'm asking God for one thing,
      only one thing:
   To live with him in his house
      my whole life long.
   I'll contemplate his beauty;
      I'll study at his feet.

 5 That's the only quiet, secure place
      in a noisy world,
   The perfect getaway,
      far from the buzz of traffic.

 6 God holds me head and shoulders
      above all who try to pull me down.
   I'm headed for his place to offer anthems
      that will raise the roof!
   Already I'm singing God-songs;
      I'm making music to God. "

... is to be with God in His house to see His beauty where His Glory dwells. When this world of Real Estate gets so noisy - especially from the media - realize that seeking God is the True Meaning of Life.
