Do most agents fear closing? As far as I know, closing is the most exciting and relieving part of the whole process. It is the day for a visual gleaning of the fruits of our labor; the final stage wherein we get rewarded for our service; the day when accolades of appreciation is received in the form of a pay check. It is the day when we don the laurel of success.
Usually, closing is wherein a few brief and casual verbal exchanges, for the very first time, transpire. This is when all the parties from both sides get introduced to each other. So far, I have not seen a brawl or unpleasant outcome during closings. There was once a sudden outburst of tears that the seller could not stop from holding. But that was it.
What was the paradox about? That Most Agents Fear Closing?
According to Tim and Julie Harris, CLOSING is that big, suspenseful moment where you have to use your skill and finesse to get your prospect to say yes.
"It’s no surprise that this terrifies most agents, so today we’re going to be discussing how to overcome your fear of closing, along with some of the proven closing methods that take the stress out of it."
Tim and Julie also added the following:
Takeaways:
- The word "close" terrifies most agents.
- There are proven closing methods that take the stress out of this experience.
- A big part of closing is delivery.
My take on this:
- Closing does not terrify agents. Rather, it is the day we celebrate. It is the day we get paid.
- There is no proven methodology that will take the stress out because closing day is not a stressful day. It is an exhilarating day for us agents.
- Closing is the delivery day or the conveyance day. Delivery is not the big part of it. It is it.
I don't know from what perspective Tim and Julie based their article from but in my opinion, this piece is just too far from reality. I don't know all agents in our region where closing procedures are conducted according to the norm. What I do know is that closing day is not a terrifying day for most, if not all, of the agents.
