This event is being organized by the New Fairfield Parks & Recreation Department in conjunction with the Ski Haus and Candlewood Stand Up Paddleboard. Equipment will be provided for participants and there will be instructors available to demonstrate demonstrate the proper techniques for paddling a kayak, how to balance yourself and stay up on a paddle board and so on. Advice on selecting the kayak or paddle board best suited for your needs will be offered as well.
If you've never experienced paddle-boarding, (or paddle surfing, as it is sometimes called), this is a great opportunity to try. Calm waters of a lake are a good place to start. If you're not familiar with this sport, read on - I had written an article about it when the Candlewood Stand Up paddleboard group first came to New Fairfield. Ladies, take note - it is said we have an advantage in this sport: we can balance better due to our weight distribution!
It’s promising to be another beautiful weather day, so come out and enjoy a day on Candlewood Lake at the New Fairfield Town Beach.
It should be noted that the Candlewood Lake Authority had issued warnings in regard to the presence of blue/green algae in the lake, which can cause a health hazard.
