Mac or PC...Need Your Advice Please!

Hi Activerainers,

My 5 year old Toshiba laptop is dying a slow death and I seem to face computer rage daily.  I have a nice size closing next week and plan to use some of the commission for a new laptop.  The question is should I make the switch from a pc to a Macbook?  I've been pondering this question for months and would really value your advice, especially from those who have made the transition.  I know that Macs are better (but not totally immune) at resisting viruses and people tell me that they last much longer than a pc, assuming it's cared for responsibly.  I'm pretty good at learning new technology so I'm not afraid of the learning curve that I'm sure I'll be facing if I switch from a Pc ti a Nac,  I've borrowed my daughter's Macbook a couple of times, so I'm not totally unfamiliar with how it works.

I'm especially concerned the transition.  How painful is it?  Since many of my docs were done on Microsoft Office products, how should I save them?  I know I can move them to Dropbox or something similar, but what if I want to use them to send out to a new client?  What about my emails on Microsoft Outlook?  Some of the programs I have on my PC such as PrintShop I would be happy to lose, especially since I do a lot on Canva now, but I'm not sure I want to get rid of Microsoft Publisher.

I know there is a program that is called something like Microsoft Office for Macs.  Is that the way to go?   Are there other issues I'm not considering?

I value your experience with this and I'm looking forward to seeing your opinions.

Marie, since you have to make the change, go MACBook Pro or Air.  We made the change a couple of years ago and will never ever go back to Windows.  Here's why:

1)You can put Word on your MAC.  But you don't need to. Pages is free and interchangable with Word

2)The learning curve is easy and you can get free training at the Apple store

3)When I open my MAC to work, I can work immediately.  None of that 5-10 minute waiting garbage with Windows

4)I have had NO virus issues at all.  The computer just works.  Beautifully.

The only thing you have to be sure of is that your MLS will work on your MAC.  If so, make the change.  Once you go MAC you'll never go back!

Where ever you are, that's where I'll be!

Thanks for your great feedback Bob!  So in terms of Pro or Air, what do you suggest. My MLS now works with Apple products.  They finally came around.   I have an Ipad, but there are some programs such as Rezora and XpressDocs that don't work well with mobile.
