Oak CemetaryOak Cemetery is recognized as a National Historic Landmark based on over 152 years of documented history.  It's the final resting place for at least 28 Outlaws hanged by Judge Isaac Parker (AKA The Hanging Judge).

 

Tales of the Crypt at Oak Cemetery is a Historical and educational guided tour of people at Oak Cemetery that shaped the west and built Fort Smith. Actors in period costumes portray the deceased citizens of Fort Smith. You'll have the opportunity to see Ft. Smith History come to Life.  Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and clothes; this is a walking tour.  The Tours will be held on April 27, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Please call (479) 784-1006 to confirm the event in case of bad weather.

 

This is the 11th Annual Event, and I've NEVER attended.  Guess where you will find me on the 27th?  You got that right!!!  I need to see you there too.

Fort Smith is full of history.  I've been to conventions there many times and I always sneak off to go the Hanging Judge's museum and the other museum down in that area.  Have fun!
