A Blog Post About Nothing?

I was (am) a huge Seinfeld fan. I love how they took the ordinary things that happen, or could happen, in our daily lives and made them funny. There really is so much humor in simply waiting for a table at a Chinese restaurant, isn't there?

For those who don't know (really? are there any?), at one point there was a season when the concept of Seinfeld was being pitched as a TV show to NBC within the sitcom itself; layer upon layer of humor. What I remember was George and Jerry saying things like "you went to the dry cleaners.....THAT'S a show."That's pretty much what the show was about...creating funny moments out of ordinary days.

It made me think about blogging on a regular basis. While humor might not always play a part (although I think the best have some entertainment value), we are taking aspects of our normal day and work day, and creating content.

  • You showed a home today....THAT'S a post.
  • There was an odd outlet at the home inspection....THAT'S a post.
  • The lender went on vacation and no one has the file....THAT's a post.

You get my drift? While there are funny, frustrating and unusual things that pop up to write about, sometimes they are just stories about our day and how we helped a client.

You're a real estate professional.....THAT'S a post.

Thank you for this. I've been a bit "blah" about my thoughts for posts lately but you are right - they are everywhere.

By the way, the rerun of that particular show just ran a week or so ago - very funny stuff!

Good morning Karen,

Seinfeld and Will Rogers should have a come back to make fun of our everyday average lives.

Make yourself a great day.

So true! When I was blogging daily, it seemed like there was a potential blog post in nearly everything I did. It's only difficult to come up with a topic when you're trying!

Inspiration can come from anything we do. I think that some of my best blogs are just those that flowed from a train of thought.

Some guy came up to me at poolside and said...you ought to be in the movies. I responded...I am. We are all in one giant live production of which I find fascinating

Karen Fiddler, Broker/Owner, I was stuck and thinking I just have run out of ideas for blog posts.  It's coincided with other things in my work day that had distracted my focus.  And then I read your prefectly applicable post and the next topic appeared before me.

Thanks!

Your post makes a great point Karen ... nearly anything can be inspiration for a blog post!  How about one about marble rye?  Seinfeld is my favorite TV show of all time. I'm not sure that I could be good friends with someone who didn't like it ... LOL

I didn't watch it very often, but always enjoyed it when I did.  Roger D. Mucci is also very good at writing a post about nothing, haha.

Although I've never watched Seinfeld, I do agree. Life is filled with goofy moments. We simply need to pay attention. Laughter can turn the mundane into fun - so why not go for it?

I only want to comment to those who didn't watch Seinfeld...what are you waiting for? There are reruns. I would love to discover a funny new show to binge watch. :)
