A Big Thank YOU to The Birk for our free night out!
Owners of The Birk, Mike and Wendy Ingraham have been chipping away for years at being the GO TO place for live entertainment and yummy meals out in the middle of nowhere in our itty bitty place called Birkenfeld Oregon! While wearing their T-shirts with the saying, "It's not that far", they have made their venue a place for musicians to WANT to come and entertain the locals! They have worked and worked tirelessly to make this a destination and finally landed on The Entertainment Page of the Oregonian recently, as a rural place to go for blues music, classic rock'n roll and in an area that is beyond enthusiastic about the live entertainment that Mike and Wendy bring in for the Fishhawk Lake community, Vernonia, Jewell, Clatskanie, and Mist residents, as well as those far-flung folks who drive up in their motorcycles to attend an evening of foot-stompin', hand-clappin' and generally happy crowds who welcome anyone who walks through The Birk's door!
This last Wednesday night several of us were invited to spend an evening with the Ingrahams and the Laurie Morvan Band,
which also included a delectable dinner that they prepared for those of us lucky enough to be included and a night of incredible music that was all at their expense! They were saying thank you to those of us who have supported them and sent business their way and what an evening it WAS!
I videotaped a partial song of Laurie's and her band as they did a ZZ Top song and her riffs on the guitar were AMAZING! (For those few of you who don't know what a guitar riff is, I have included an explanation...OR just watch the video!)
