Never Leave a Birdie Putt Short - A Golf Tip That Applies to Real Estate :)

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with F.C.Tucker 1st Team Real Estate

Ok, so Finally spring has arrived in Northwest Indiana and I convinced Jeff to turn off the phone a few hours in the afternoon the other day to get in a few holes of GOLF on a warm, but windy day.

Amazingly, with the wind at my back, my drive reached the green on a Par 3, and I was left with a 20 foot uphill putt!

Now the advice of my experienced parter, who has golfed since childhood, and has been lovingly patient with my learning curve, has been : NEVER LEAVE A PUTT FOR BIRDIE SHORT !

How does this great piece of advice relate to REAL ESTATE TRANSACTIONS

I've heard Jeff mention this to both CLIENTS and Other REALTORS  during the negotiation phase of an Offer to Purchase.

Now that I play the Game of Golf, I understand this analogy more clearly!

When a DEAL is so close to getting signed and accepted, take extra care to look, listen and observe from all angles, the possible scenario's for a successful outcome.

Ask parties who have a vested interest, what is needed to make it happen?!

Often, the Real Estate Fore-some = Buyer, Seller, Buyers Agent and Listing Agent will score a PAR.

Even this EARLY in the SEASON, even in this Market, just by diligent & Focused efforts in negotiation that produce Win - Win Outcomes !

Eventually the repeated practice and efforts produce RESULTS ! Even this missed birdie was holed for a PAR !!!

Happy Golfing / Happy Selling :)

Sincerely,

Grace

There is no doubt I would rather miss the put LONG by three feet than leave it short, because long has a chance to go in while short never will. Take aim take your shot and don't leave it short

Hello Steve - you are right ! In this case though ( as in the photo) - it was soooo close, I waited awhile for the wind to gust and perhaps knock it in (which it didn't... lol) thanks for stopping by and sharing your experiences as well.

Hello John - As same analogy, different sport! Thanks for taking time to stop by and share it.

Sincerely,

Grace

Hi Grace and Jeff!

WoW, what an excellent analogy....I'll have to tell my golfing friend about it; he'll love it.
