Fishhawk Lake Real Estate-Using Longtail Key Words for SEO
(Search Engine Optimization)
What are longtail key words? Here is a simple definition:
Long tail keywords are a type of keyword phrase that has at least three, and sometimes as many as five words in the phrase...when the searcher is looking for something rather specific
Here is a longtail key word phrase that I decided upon from listening to Bob Stewart during one of his many exemplary ActiveRain webinars a few years ago (here is a link to a more recent webinar). He suggested talking about your area and adding a dollar figure. Here is what I used, as an example:
lakefront properties for sale under $300,000
I decided to check this out today as to where I rank with this phrase, (and you will notice that I DID NOT put in Oregon, because many do their searches all over the country for lake property), so I changed it up a bit and put in the phrase:
lakefront for sale under $300000
and I went to duckduckgo.com because unlike Google it doesn't track your history. Here is where I landed: I am at the top of page one in first position!
Lakefront Homes for sale Under $300,000-Fishhawk Lake Real Estate. There isn't much left in this category, as I've sold most of it! There are luxury properties for sale at $400,000+.
Pretty cool, man! I typed out another phrase "lake properties for sale at Fishhawk Lake under $200,000" (which is a page on my oldest WordPress website) and it ranked #6 on page one. I changed it to say "Lake Homes for sale Under $200,000" and it moved up immediately to position 4.
This particular website of mine was free and I've had it for several years, so it is rich in history. I have used "Fishhawk Lake" in my longtail keywords, but many don't start out knowing about Fishhawk Lake, they are doing a more general search.
You want to include several links to your other sites, too to help your ranking.
I found that "lake homes" was a common short phrase, so I incorporated that into my original website name,lakehomesatfishhawk.com , which has also proven to be effective. People searching from California to New Jersey may not know my name, but using a common search term will help them find me and then creating a wordrich specific phrase just layers the search engines in my favor. I even ranked with the phrase "private lake community" on page one. It takes the reader to my IDX website and the page called The Community where I share posts about the people and activities of Fishhawk Lake, as there are many who want to really understand what the lifestyle offers.
In gaining SEO, try some of these tricks, listen to Bob Stewart's webinars and check your status frequently on BOTH Google and Duckduckgo and do some comparing! Hope that this helps, and if you have more questions, contact Bob (register for a future webinar), call or e-mail me, and you might also check out Katerina Gasset another SEO real estate expert with ActiveRain whom I learned a great deal from when I first started on ActiveRain. Her classes were phenomenal!
