Enjoy your Labor Day!
September 7, 2015 is Labor Day! This holiday is held annually on the first Monday of September. Originally this holiday was planned to celebrate the contributions of American’s hard work into the US economy. Today, it is commonly a day of rest. Labor Day marks the end of the summer season and provides a last chance for trips or outdoor activities. Many outdoor pools across the US close this time of year.
For workers, it is usually a day off that is filled with relaxation or BBQing! Labor Day is a federal holiday so remember that all of your government offices, schools, and many local businesses will be closed.
The first Labor Day was held in 1882 thanks to the desire of the Central Labor Union to create a holiday for works. By 1984 it became a federal holiday that is intended to show appreciation for our workforce.
Cities across the USA may celebrate with large picnics, firework displays, parades, or other street festivals.
