Another new email scam? Or a virus?

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Marte Cliff Copywriting

This morning I received the following email with an attachment saying it was his resume:

"Hello! my name is Jason Sharon doc is my resume

Looking forward to see your response

Sincerely YoursJ

ason Sharon"

There was an attachment, but something told me not to open it.
I know it Could have been an agent wanting a new bio, but if that had been the
case, wouldn't he have written some different message?

I thought so, so instead I hit reply and asked why he was writing.

The message I got back was "Undeliverable, no such email address."

I'm sure glad I didn't open that attachment!

Marte Cliff,  It is a good thing you listened to your instincts and did not open that email.

Scammers are becoming craftier all the time.  I think there ought to be a special place in Hell for those who perpetrate scams, and create computer viruses!

Marte, got two similar emails yesterday. Since I am not looking to hire anyone I deleted them. If they would only use their talents for positive results! Enjoy your day!

Sybil Campbell I am too. There's no telling what I might have run into.

William Feela And sometimes it's just a feeling...

Sam Shueh I looked twice at it because sometimes agents send me their resumes in preparation for writing their bios.

Jon Zolsky, Daytona Beach, FL No doubt you will - Wayne said he got two yesterday.

Myrl Jeffcoat There probably is. Meanwhile, I'd like to see them punished right NOW.

Wayne Martin That's the thing... if these smart people would use their talents to create rather than destroy, they'd be happier and so would the rest of the world.

Sam Shueh Yes. I was a real estate agent and then broker over a span of 19 years. Then I realized that marketing was my favorite part of the business, so now I write for agents all over the country - and even in other countries. For me, it's a lot more fun.

I wish I knew how to avoid that "un-subscribe" mess. I've gotten into it too. Now I just hit delete on 90% of the mail that arrives in my in-box. It's easier.

Years ago I used to do something to block certain email addresses from coming in, but a guru told me that all I was doing was telling them that this was a good address to sell to other spammers.

If you flag those mails as "junk" enough times, your service should start automatically putting them in the junk folder. At least - that's what it claims to do.

Sounds to me like you have been around the block a few times!  I always wonder how it is that so many people fall for these scams anymore ...

Janna Scharf I have no idea, but they must. Some of them are SO obvious, like the ones pretending to be Pay Pal or a bank - and the grammar is messed up and the words spelled incorrectly.
