Would YOU do this????

This week at the company meeting a fellow Realtor told this story.  She had a listing that was due to expire within a week.  Her seller notified her that they had 3 appointments in one day and had 4 more scheduled this week.  The fellow Realtor thought this was wonderful maybe she would get an offer. In all there were 12 showings in 5 days.  The seller received a call the day the listing expired from a Realtor associated with a company that starts with a K and ends with an S (not to point any fingers), the Realtor said my company showed your home 11 times in one week you should list with us!!!  The seller also said that a lady showed up at the door and said I think I dropped my earring here when I came with "my friend, the Realtor".  SO does this mean this company gangs up to take listings.  Would you do this???  The assumption in my office is that they were ghost listings (Realtors showing their friends or none at all).  The seller thinks it is and is angry because he had to leave for each fake showing.  BTW they were all from the SAME company.  My fellow Realtor had her seller sign a renewal contract 5 days before expiration!!!  SO HAH!!!!

So HAH indeed.  The best way to stop them if they're doing fake showings is to make it not worth their time.  Good job on the agent's part.

Yes, Im sure this was a group effort.  Some companies work on a tiered commission structure - when you bring new agents into the company, a portion of the money the company earns off that agent is paid to the agent who brought that agent into the company.  In this way - the agents bringing people in are invested in seeing them succed.  A brilliant idea I think.  But just like any idea/technology - someone will always find a way to pervert it.

I've never heard of that specific scam, but I wouldn't be surprised to think some offices would do that.

Sure doesn't make you proud of our profession does it?
