Many of us reap the benefit of this holiday with a day off, many are lucky to receive it as a paid holiday. The holiday of Labor Day became woven into our society over a century ago (1887) to honor the hard work of American Workers and to honor the advancements obtained by labor unions to standardize work hours in this country. Labor Day is a day that honors the "eight hour day movement" i.e. eight hours of work, eight hours of recreation and eight hours of rest. Remember prior to the labor movement and laws set into motion all those years ago, there were not true legal advocates for laborers.
So on this Labor Day enjoy the fruits of your hard work and the hard work of those who came before us those many years ago to give us all the opportunity for a more balanced life.
Happy Labor Day!
